The end of December and the beginning of January have historically been a spike in response to generate leads and sales.
With slight timing differences, this is the time for both B2C and B2B marketers for all products and services.
That means, proper planning for all your marketing…
It also means launching your product or service in the highest response season… or more aggressively marketing by increasing our budget for the future.
Each media is slightly different!
Digital Marketing
Start all end of year digital marketing campaigns December 26th-30th. Pause them from December 31st to January 2nd and then resume them at the more aggressive rate.
Direct Mail
- If you’re using 3D/videologs by FedEx or UPS, send them 2-3 days before Christmas – arriving the last week of December or just after Christmas to arrive after January 1st.
- Traditional Direct Mail: magalogs, newsalogs, postcards, and envelopes should be mailed for conservative mailers December 28th or 29th to arrive the first 3 weeks of January.
- Because of the heavy use of mail this year, I advise that you do not send anything before December 25th unless you want to be more aggressive and have your mail arrived by the last week of December/first week of January the best time.
The very best results have a little more delivery risks, but better results.
Expect mail deliveries 12-15 days for most deliveries to hit the week after Christmas and the first week of January.
Email Campaigns
Aim all email campaigns to land in inboxes on the 27th, 28th and 29th. Again, pause them from December 30th to January 2nd and then resume on the 3rd.
Electronic Media
For TV, radio, and podcast marketing, you should be aiming to feature them December 27, 28, and 29th. Pause them from December 30th to January 2nd and then resume on the 3rd.
By following this schedule you’ll maximize your response and will be sure to catch the consumer upswing into the new year.
