Political ad spending has grown at a record pace, surpassing spending for the last 3.5 years—to more than double.
Over $453 million has been spent so far for the 2024 election— which is over the $221 million spent at this point for 2020.
All marketers should care because the ads drive up your marketing costs as media options decrease and prices increase.
In addition, inflation has driven up media costs by 3 times the costs it was in 2020.
But that’s not all, super packs are buying media in bulk, spending millions for their candidates.
For example, Nuestro, one of the largest Hispanic super-PAC, plans to spend over $37 million to support Biden. They have bought ad space on radio stations in key swing states– Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada,
Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. They are also gearing up to buy ad space on TV, direct mail, and online ads.
