The end of December and the beginning have historically been a spike in response to generate leads and sales.

In this post pandemic environment, the expectation is that the January spike will be even greater that last year.

That means, proper planning for all of your marketing …

Direct Mail

  • If you’re using 3-D / Physical videologs, mail them 3-4 days before Christmas – arriving the last week of December or just after Christmas to arrive January 1st.
  • Traditional Direct Mail: magalogs, newsalogs, postcards, and envelopes should be mailed December 29th or 30th to arrive the first 2 weeks of January.
  • Because of the heavy use of mail this year, I advise that you do not send anything before December 25th … it’s too risky and not worth the headache.

Digital Marketing

Start all digital marketing campaigns December 28, 29, and 30th.  Pause them from December 31st to January 4th and then resume on the 5th.

Email Campaigns

Aim all email campaigns to land in inboxes on the 29th and 30th.  Again, pause them from December 31st to January 3rd and then resume on the 4th.

Electronic Media

For TV, radio, and podcast marketing, you should be aiming to feature them December 28, 29, and 30th.  Pause them from December 31st to January 4th and then resume on the 5th.

By following this schedule you’ll maximize your response and will be sure to catch the consumer upswing into the new year.
